Q&A: Accessing VoIP gateway with router?

Question by joeb: Accessing VoIP gateway with router?
I have a Netgear router with a separate VoIP gateway plugged into one of the router ports. Internet and voip work fine.

I'm trying to access the voip control panel via the address 192.168.1.1 when attached to the router and I can't get the admin screen.

I've also tried the IP address of the VoIP gateway, and also no luck.

If I disconnect the router and hook the VoIP gateway directly to the modem then to my computer I can access
